IMPACT-AML lands in Rome at the Third National GIMEMA Meeting

IMPACT – AML, a project funded by the European Commission under the Horizon Europe “Mission Cancer” programme, focused on Relapsed or Refractory Acute Myeloid Leukemia (R/R AML), will take centre stage at the Third National GIMEMA Meeting scheduled for May 27th in Rome.

The IMPACT-AML session is scheduled at 12:20, inside Block 2 of the programme — the block dedicated to chronic myeloproliferative neoplasms and multiple myeloma, moderated by Paola Fazi and Alfonso Piciocchi (Fondazione GIMEMA). The focus will be led by Giovanni Martinelli (IRST “Dino Amadori”, IMPACT-AML coordinator) and Edoardo La Sala (Fondazione GIMEMA), and will cover the two operational pillars of the project: the STREAM registry, the European master framework for the inclusive registration of patients with relapsed or refractory acute myeloid leukaemia (R/R AML) across clinical centres; and the Randomized Pragmatic Clinical Trial (RPCT): the prospective trial that compares a traditional “high-intensity” rescue chemotherapy with biology-driven “low-intensity” rescue regimens, generating real-world evidence to optimise treatment for R/R AML patients.

The presence of IMPACT-AML at the GIMEMA National Meeting is a strategic dissemination milestone for the project. GIMEMA is one of the largest haematology research networks in Italy, and the National Meeting brings together principal investigators, study coordinators, data managers, biologists, nurses and pharmacists from across the country. Speaking directly to this community accelerates centre engagement, supports patient enrolment in STREAM and the RPCT, and reinforces the role of Italian centres inside the European IMPACT-AML consortium. The event is held under the patronage of the Italian Society of Haematology (SIE), with the contribution of AIL Roma and AIL Bari and in collaboration with SIES and GITMO.
